The multicultural event first started last year and was a surprise hit for the Wellington Arts organising committee.

Wellington Arts secretary Natacha Richards said last year they expected anywhere between 200 to 500 people to attend, but were amazed with the 2000 plus turnout.

People came from Dubbo, Mudgee and Orange areas, and as far as New England, Canberra and Sydney.

They are hoping the 2019 event, which will be held on October 25, attracts similar numbers to last year.

"Last year exceeded our expectations," Ms Richards said.

Because of the unexpected turnout, vendors ran out of food, but organisers have catered for a larger crowd.

"We tried to go as local as possible," Ms Richards said about sourcing food.

There will be a total of 13 local food vendors, including the Wellington Lions Club, the Wellington Red Cross, Jespresso, Barnardos and Three Wise Ladies.

There will be plenty more space available at the 2019 event, with the courtyard to the Central Hotel and Cactus Cafe courtyards to be open, and more seating options.

Local musicians will keep the entertainment going throughout the night, with dance performances from the Wellington High School and PCYC.

The event will commence at 5pm and there will be two lantern parades.

The Wellington Museum will also open from 5pm on the following day for people to explore the collection.
