The Wellington Youth Festival will be held at the WINS Community Centre on Friday, October 11 from 6pm to 9pm.
The free event is open to youth ages between 10 to 17.
WINS Community Centre community worker Colleen Allen the aim of the youth-run festival was to encourage those young residents to have a sense of ownership
Ms Allen said there are even talks to hold a festival next year.
"You don't get many events for this age group (10-17) in the community, everyone is excited about it," she said.
Parents can be assured that their children will have a fun and safe night, with plenty of adult supervision.
Preparations for the event were going well, with the WINS Kids girl group working really hard and taken "a real ownership" of the festival, Ms Allen said.
There will be plenty of food available on the night and a gold coin donation.
