The Bureau of Statistics estimates the population of the Wellington local government area in 2018 was 9464.
It's an increase of more than 357 people from the previous year when the population was estimated to be 9107.
Between 2017 to 2018 Wellington saw a population growth of 3.9 per cent.
In comparison, ABS demography director Beidar Cho said Australia as a whole grew by 1.6 per cent.

From 2017 to 2018, it's estimated 65 people were added to the Wellington population naturally, that is through births.
Another 276 migrated from somewhere in Australia, while 16 came from overseas to call Wellington home.
The Dubbo LGA also experienced strong growth, however areas such as Narromine, Cobar, Parkes and Bogan Shire have seen population decreases.
The Bogan Shire has seen one of the worst decreases in the region.
Between 2017 and 2018 the population shrunk by 1.7 per cent. Across ten years the population has decreased by 371.
Heading further west there have been more population decreases.
Bourke has decreased by 2.5 per cent and Walgett has decreased by 2.4 per cent.
Walgett's population has decreased by 830 in the last ten years.
Population change from 2017 to 2018:
- Dubbo: 2.1 per cent
- Bathurst: 0.9 per cent
- Orange: 1.3 per cent
- Bogan: -1.7 per cent
- Cobar: -0.3 per cent
- Mid-Western Regional: 1 per cent
- Narromine: -0.3 per cent
- Parkes: -0.1 per cent
