An extraordinary meeting of Dubbo Regional Council will be held at the Dubbo council chambers at 5.30pm for the decision.
The 10 councillors will vote for their elected representatives.
Any councilor can nominate themselves to be mayor but they must at least have one other councilor supporting them.

It will be decided at the meeting if the vote is to be undertaken by a secret ballot or open via something like a show of hands.
Ben Shields was elected as mayor in 2017 against Kevin Parker, while deputy mayor was given unopposed to Anne Jones.
The councillors will also vote on the formation of the new committees, panels and working parties, as well as the dates and times of future meetings. The vote will be open to the public to attend.
