Wellington is continuing to become a heart safe town thanks to a recent Automated External Defibrillator (AED) donation by Bodangora Wind Farm.

Heart Safe town coordinator George Chapman said the donation was his the fourth defibrillator that has been donated
"Which is an amazing achievement and a great testament to support of local businesses in the area to the cause," he said.
"With bigger distances in regional areas, it can take longer for professional medical help to arrive. In a cardiac arrest situation, every minute is critical and defibrillators can be used by anyone, even if they have never been trained as they are easy to use and provide a step-by-step guide."

The goal is to have AED units placed in prominent positions around the town. It is anticipated that only a few more AED's are needed to ensure Wellington is a heart safe town.
The Wellington Rotary Club are coordinating donations for the campaign and any donations, small or large, can be deposited at the Wellington NAB into the Wellington Rotary Club 'defib' account: 367170284(NAB staff have the details.
Anyone donating are asked to include their name so their donation can be recognised.
Fund raising to purchase more AED's is ongoing and the Central Hotel will be running events over the coming weeks so that Wellington residents can contribute to the campaign
