The annual event, which is in its 43rd year, commenced on July 26 and continues all this week and until August 16.
In total 2814 creative youngsters from Wellington, Sydney, Bathurst, Cowra, Gilgandra, Dubbo, Orange, Narromine and Geurie entered this year.
There are 2048 individual entries in the dance section, 446 in speech and drama and 320 vocal and and instrumental.
The Wellington Times spoke to the Wellington Eisteddfod president Robert Collier on the Saturday when the dance section was on.
Despite a few house keeping issues, Mr Collier said the event was going really well.
"It's been a full auditorium this morning, so that was good and the same for this afternoon it's looking booked out," he said.
"Everyone seems to be enjoying themselves so far, which is the main thing..."
Mr Collier said although it was only open for a few hours, the canteen made over $600 on the first day.
"The first weekend is our biggest income for the whole Eisteddfod because we have all of the senior and junior dance groups," he said.
"We've got over 2200 people just in the first dance weekend, which is phenomenal."

Eisteddfod committee member Pip Smith said the event is such a great thing for the town.
"We've got 33 dance schools here this weekend and they love coming to Wellington Eisteddfod," she said.
Ms Smith said the local event is on par with Orange's entrant numbers and is as popular as Dubbo's.
"The Eisteddfod is such a wonderful thing for Wellington," she said.
Mr Collier agreed and added that numbers continue to come through.
"This is probably the biggest event in Wellington this year," he said.
"It gives opportunities to so many students to learn and get adjudicated on and that helps them later on in their career if they choose to go onto dancing or musicals."
