Lambs
At Dubbo on Monday 25,700 lambs penned in a pretty good quality yarding with good runs of both trade and heavy lambs some good runs of well finished merino lambs. The market commenced on a much cheaper rate, however, it did gain momentum as the sale progressed. Processor light lambs were firm to $5 cheaper, lighter trade fell $12, while the heavier end finished firm to $4 dearer.
Heavy lambs lost $10, merino lambs finished $1 to $4 dearer with the trade weights selling from $138 to $195 while the heavy end traded from $200 to $226. Restocker lambs were firm with the better types ranging from $90 to $143, feeders reached $167, hoggets topped at $230.
- Quotations light lamb $54 to $164, medium lamb $134 to $185, heavy lamb $165 to $217, supermarket lamb $190 to $248, export lamb $240 to $311. 12,800 mutton in a mixed yarding with most grades finishing firm.
- Quotations light ewes $50 to $110, medium ewes $103 to $156, heavy ewes $149 to $236, light wethers $50 to $165, medium wethers $118 to $146, heavy wethers $160 to $190, rams $80 to $159, ram lambs $100 to $183.
Cattle
At Dubbo last Thursday 3920 prime cattle penned in another plain quality yarding with good numbers of cows and young cattle showing the effects of the season with a few pens of well finished grain fed trade cattle. Trade young cattle were firm, feeder steers were firm for the better types though up to 12 cents cheaper for most while feeder heifers gained 4 cents. Feeder steers sold from 234 to 322 cents per kg while feeder heifers ranged from 230 to 286 cents per kg. Restocker young steers traded from 165 to 280 cents while young heifers realised from 177 to 248 cents per kg, heavy steers rose 3 cents, heavy heifers were also dearer, plain conditioned cows were around firm while the properly finished was 4 cents cheaper.
- Quotations calves 170 to 240, steer vealers 165 to 314, heifer vealers 177 to 307, steer yearlings 118 to 322, heifers yearlings 179 to 295, heavy steers 168 to 318, bullocks 225 to 314, heavy heifers 40 to 288, light cows 60 to 230, medium cows 100 to 194, heavy cows 170 to 230, bulls 140 to 252.
On Friday 2500 store cattle penned at CTLX Carcoar with a smaller number of mostly young cattle were offered with weaner steers selling from $130 to $1025 being $40 to $70 dearer. The average cents per kg was 270 to 320 cents, weaner heifers ranged from $250 to $838 with most ranging from 200 to 240 cents per kg. Yearling steers traded from $575 to $1020, yearling heifers realised $670 to $770, PTIC heifers made from $540 to $1000 PTIC cows sold from $700 to $1235, cows and calves ranged from $700 to $1310 for a pen of Angus.
Wool
Schute Bell report that last weeks wool sale had an increased volume of wool however losses occurred over both selling days with the headline market indicators falling to their lowest level since November 2018. The Northern Region indicator is now 320 cents below its seasonal record high in August 2018. The hardest hit is the merino carding indicator which is 32% down compared to last season, a large percentage of re-offered wool hit the market last week.
