Dubbo Regional Council has accepted $1.4 million of funding from the Australian Government to assist with the replacement of two timber bridges.

Burrendong Number 2 and Terrabella Bridges have each been allocated $700,000 from round four of the Bridges Renewal Program to go towards the construction of two-lane concrete bridges.
Under the terms of the Bridges Renewal program construction of both bridges must be scheduled to commence before June, 30, 2020 and completed by June, 30, 2022.
The current Burrendong Number 2 is a narrow two-lane timber bridge on Fashions Mount Road leading to Burrendong Dam, while Terrabella Bridge is a narrow one-lane bridge on Terrabella Road, which will be replaced as part of an improved road alignment.
In addition to the Federal Government funding, the NSW Government announced a $500 million Fixing Country Bridges program to replace the worst timber bridges in regional and rural communities prior to the state election in March.
Burrendong Number 2 and Terrabella bridges were both included for an allocation of funding as part of Fixing Country Bridges. Council will attempt to secure the additional funding required to complete the replacement of these bridges from that fund.
"Timber bridges are one of the biggest concerns for residents who live in those areas and in the case of Burrendong Number 2, it just wasn't wide enough to accommodate the traffic heading to Burrendong Dam so this will be a welcome upgrade," Mayor of the Dubbo Region Ben Shields said.
"To have both the State and Federal Governments commit to funding the replacement of bridges is a great outcome.
"This will address the concerns of residents that have been using some very outdated and narrow bridges. It is great to see projects in the Wellington region being committed to."
Total project cost estimate for Burrendong Number 2 is $2,117,500 with $700,000 available from BRP. Council will be required to allocate up to $1,417,500 to this project as part of the quarterly financial review process if State Government funding cannot be secured.
The total project cost estimate for Terrabella Bridge is $3,916,000 with $700,000 available from BRP.
