A petition circulated on change.org by the group claims the school may have it's higher grades closed down by 2020 and is aiming to demonstrate public support for the school to remain open.
P&F President Pip Smith said that the school's community had recently been made aware that 'an important time in the consideration of the future direction of St Mary's was upon them.'

"The school community has been asked to complete a short survey indicating their intentions regarding student attendance past 2019, with the secondary section of the school in mind," Mrs Smith said.
Mrs Smith said that 'lack of enrollment' and 'smaller class sizes' had been pointed to as reasons for the diocese's proposed course of action.
In addition to the survey, the P&F will also be attending two planned community consultation meetings with representatives from the Bathurst Diocese of Education, who manage the school.
Now may be the only time we have to save the school.

"These consultation meetings are a critical point in the future of St Mary's High School. Now may be the only time we have to save the school. We are a determined bunch and won't let the closure of St Mary's High School happen without bringing every opportunity to the consultation," Mrs Smith said.
The first of two meetings will occur at the Infant de Prague hall at St Mary's on Thursday, March 28, at 7pm, while the second meeting will occur on Monday, April 8, at the same place and time.
A steering committee consisting of parents, St Mary's staff, the local parish priest and Bathurst Education Diocese executives has been set up and Mrs Smith is hopeful that the community will make their voices heard.
"I sincerely hope that we can have strong representation at the consultation meetings, encouraging the Bathurst Diocese executives to keep St Mary's High School open," Mrs Smith said.
Representatives at the Bathurst Education Diocese were contacted, but declined to comment at this time.
