The Macquarie River will hold 130 kayakers from all across the state during the 2018 WomDomNom Charity Kayak Expedition.

The trip takes its unusual name from the three towns that are situated along the route; Wellington, Dubbo and Narromine.
The five day kayak starts at Burrendong Dam Wall and follows along the Macquarie River until the participants reach Narromine.
At night, the kayaks will be pulled into a stop at several pre-determined points so that participants can rest and recuperate by the riverside at camping spots.
The event started in 2011 and has grown considerably over the years since, having more than tripled the number of participants competing in that time and with next year’s event already having a lengthy wait list for those looking to join in.
"[The Macquarie River] is probably one of the most under utilised national resources we've got in the area,” WomDomNom President Andrew McKay said.
Funds raised by the event will be donated to the Black Dog Institute and go towards fighting depression and mental illness.
Onlookers hoping to get a look at the kayaks as they take off are welcome to view the beginning of the event at the low level bridge at John Oxley park in Wellington on Thursday, November 22, at 8am.
