Carer’s Collection
The library has a collection of books devoted to those who are caregivers to family and friends. Carers are usually family members who provide support to children or adults who have a disability, mental illness, chronic condition or who are frail aged.

There are books, DVDs and sound recordings that provide information to carers of all ages. According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics there are 272,000 carers under the age of 18 and there are books specifically aimed at young people who act as carers for other members of the family.
In addition there are books that detail how to get support from government agencies and other organisations. Items in the Carers Collection are available for loan.
Home Library Service
The home library service is a free delivery service (conditions do apply) of library resources to people, in their homes, retirement villages or nursing homes. This service is available to residents of the Macquarie Regional Library area and deliveries are made by volunteers or staff.
The service can be provided on a permanent or temporary basis, to aged or frail, carers, people with disabilities, children of housebound people, and residents of nursing homes and retirement villages.
Resources that can be provided include books, audio books, DVD’s, CD’s and magazines. For further information on this service please contact the library on 6840 1780.
New Books
A great collection of new health information books have arrived aimed at children with health problems, which includes Understanding Asthma, Understanding Juvenile Diabetes, Understanding Allergies, Understanding Cancer and Understanding Austism Spectrum Disorder. These are available for a 3 week loan.
