Craig Challen and his dive partner, Adelaide anaesthetist Richard Harris, have already received the rare Star of Courage for their important roles in the risky rescue mission in July.
The other three nominees for the Western Australian of the Year award, which will be announced on October 30 at Government House in Perth, are surgeon Michael Levitt, ophthalmologist Angus Turner and mountaineer Steven Plain.
