Ten Members participated in our first swim for the 2018/19 season at the Geurie Pool on Tuesday, October 16. We welcomed new members Lyn and Graham Cope who have returned to Wellington after a number of years.

Neil Miller took out the 25 Metre event being 0.09 outside his time while Graham Cope brought his form from Condobolin taking out the 50 metre event being 1.20 outside his time. Isiah Hill won both Junior Events.
Mason and Isiah Hill combined to win the Brace Relay being 0.10 outside their time.
Swimming continues at the Geurie Pool each week commencing at 6.30pm sharp.We ask that members make an effort to be early to prevent us running overtime for the time allocated.
Events will be 25 and 50 for Juniors and Seniors as well as the 2 x 50 metre Brace Relay draw for partners.
New Members are welcome with the proviso that they are members of the Wellington Soldiers Memorial Club and for Juniors to compete a family member must also compete on the night.

Our after swim BBQ will continue at a members residence with only Sausage and Steak Sandwich’s available with refreshments. Cost for the Tuesday Swim & BBQ are as follows: Swim Only - $2 + Pool Entry.
BBQ - Seniors and Juniors - Sausage Sandwich $3 Steak Sandwich $4 + Pool Entry. The 2019 Western District AIF Championships will be held in Condobolin on Sunday, February 10, 2019.

Bowling news
Wednesday Bowls: Eleven Members participated in last Wednesday Bowls in a rain interrupted afternoon.
Winners on the day were Ian Humphries, Norm Johnston and Ron Oxenham. Wednesday competition fees area $12. Jackpot Bowls are on again today, Names in by 1pm with a 1.30pm start. Phone 6845 1973.
Club Championships: Games set down for Wednesday, October 24 for 1pm start are as follows:

Sunday Mixed bowls: Mixed Bowls are on again next Sunday with a 1pm start. Names in between 12noon and 12.45pm. Draw for partners – Mixed Pairs 18 Ends. $10 Green Fees.

Ladies Golf
Friday saw the Western District Ladies Golf Association hold their Annual General Meeting at Wellington with 18 holes Foursomes event and lunch proceeding it. 40 players played whilst some 60 odd attended the meeting
Mrs Stanbrook and Job (Yeoval) won the day with Wellington pairing of Marg Hollow and Carmel Cohen runners-up.
The Club also had Shellee Derrick from Canada join us whilst her mum was here for the Wellington Kennel Dog Show over the weekend, thank you to Janelle Frappell for being her playing partner plus showing her around Wellington on her way home later in the afternoon.
The next big ladies event at the Club is the Ladies Open Tournament on Thursday, November 1, where some 80plus players are expected to be on the course with a 8.30am to 9.30am tee off.
Men’s Golf
Wellington Golf Club had 32 golfers hit the course last Saturday with rain and lightening welcoming all. Please make sure bottle tops are not left on the course as these damage the mowers and cause an increase in expenses.
Nominations are now open for the Board for 2018/19 and are available now on the notice board. Kierles Pharmacy summer competition will begin on December 4 and nominations close on November 17, so get your team nominations in please.
Saturday see's an Individual Stableford plus Round 2 of the Matchplay Championships kindly sponsored by Harold Baker Bookmaking.
Results from Round 1 of the Matchplay Championship in Division 1 saw Joe Ryan defeat Luke Milgate 4/2, Kurt Cusack defeat Robert Baker 4/3, Lewis McCarthy defeat Garth Watts after four extra holes, Mitchell Cusack defeated Gary Cusack.
Draw for the Semi-Finals see's Joe Ryan taking on Mitchell Cusack and Kurt Cusack taking on Lewis McCarthy.
Results from Division 2 saw Ashley Bullock defeat Daniel Baxter, David Naveau defeated Neil Hollow, Tim Parker defeated Norm Royal, Rod McMahon defeated Errol Flood 3/1.
Draw for the Semi-Finals see's Ashley Bullock taking on Rod McMahon and David Naveau taking on Tim Parker.

Winner last Saturday was Kurt Cusack who was well under par on the day, plus had an eagle on the fifth hole, his final score was 43 points. Runner up was Luke Milgate who had a great day out as well with a final score of 40 points.
Ball competition winners were Kurt Cusack 43 points, Luke Milgate 40 points, Warren Hurst 38 points, Tim Parker 38 points, Gary McNaughton 36 points, John Donnelly, Rod Irwin, Lewis McCarthy, Garth Watts 35 points.
Stubberfield Toyota terrific tee shot on the third went to Luke Milgate, on the eight it went to Kurt Cusack, on the 14th it went to Kurt Cusack, on the 16th it went to Elton Keeffe.
Gersbachs Mechanical nearest the pin in two shots on the 7th hole went to Tim Parker. McDonald's biggest whack in A grade went to Fletcher Ivey and in B grade it went to James Drew.
Brent's NFI award winner went to Neil Hollow who finished the day dry but he claimed this prize with 17 points.
Wellington Soldiers Memorial Club Pointscore top five see's Kurt Cusack 196 points, Gary McNaughton 184 points, Gary Cusack 162 points, Norm Royal 157 points, John Donnelly 153 points. Raffle winner was Ashley Bullock with Rod McMahon claiming the schooner.
Darts
Wellington Darts played there final Championship last Sunday, the Double Start/Double Finish at the Wellington Soldiers Memorial Club. Fourteen players started the event and after the preliminary the top eight were left to play for the Trophy.
Quarter Final results saw Parish Petrovic cause a boil over in beating Allan Brown 2/1, Alf Wilson beat Cindy Croker 2/0, David Wilson beat Jason Cornish 2/1, Kevin Baker beat Garth Watts 2/1. Semi-Finals saw Alf Wilson beat Parish Petrovic 3/0 and Kevin Baker beat David Wilson 3/1.
The Final saw Kevin Baker jump out to a two legs to one lead only to see Alf Wilson comeback and win the next two legs giving him a strangle hold on the title, but alas he couldn't close it out with Kevin winning the final two legs to give him a four legs to three win, congratulations to Kevin and also to Alf who has had a great year on the boards with wins or runners up in all Championships played.

Highest pegs went to Teena Hill for the ladies with 80 and Allan Brown with 97 for the men. Highest start went to David Wilson with a 156.

Cricket
Juniors: Juniors got their games in before the rain set in to wash Seniors out. U14s had a bye. 12As had a great win over Macquarie Juniors.
Fielding first they dismissed Macquarie for 12 runs with Kieran Vernon two wkts, Bede Clout one and many run outs.
Batting Wellington opened with Jessica Taylor and Deacon George both not out when passed the score 12B’s had their first game of “Big Cricket” with many out of bed and in their “whites” at 6am
Macquarie were five for 93 with Sundries their biggest runs, young Billy Deutscher taking three wkts. Wellington replied with six for 64 again Sundries top scoring but everyone got a bat.
The new Cricket Australia format for both 12s age groups will take some getting used to by the 12As but 12Bs will suit them down to the ground.
Sunday 14s Representative Team. Having their first outing as a Representative both players and coaches learnt what is involved.
Wellington electing to bat first were dismissed for 68 and Dubbo Blue were none for 72 retiring two batters.
After some more games on Saturday’s and training sessions the youngsters will improve out of sight plus realise these are 40 over games not 20.

Remember to be at grounds by 8am for 8.30am start. Sunday Western Zone Girls Gala Day – Pioneer Park. Many girls from throughout Western Zone will be playing on Sunday with team being arrange on the day, if they haven’t already arranged one to come.
It is hoped all those Wellington girls aged from 11 to 15 years will be in attendance so a Wellington team can be formed. Bianca Douglas will be looking after the Wellington team.
Seniors: All games were washed out last weekend. Draw this Saturday is

Coonabarabran Races
Red Knot, recent winner of the Coonamble Cup, completed the Western Districts feature double with a runaway win on Monday in the $45,000 Coonabarabran Bowling Club-Coonabarabran Cup over 1600 metres.
Taken to the early lead by apprentice Reece Jones, Red Knot ( $3.60 ) won from Miami Dade ( Josh Adams, $3.60 ) and Ima Baker ( Tony Cavallo, $41 ). Owned by Paul Frampton and Reg Inglis and trained at Scone by Rodney Northam, Red Knot had also won the 2017 Coonabarabran Cup
Apprenticed to Rodney Northam, Reece Jones has experienced an incredible start to his career having won at his debut ride at Tamworth less than two months ago and since winning the Coonamble Cup and Coonabarabran Cup.
Included in a winning treble for trainer Rodney Northam at Coonabarabran were The Debater ( Greg Ryan, $3.70 favourite ) and Dreamnomore ( Josh Adams, $4.20 ). At the highly successful Cup meeting there were many amongst the big crowd cheering the win of locally owned Sea Lady in the 1400 metres Barron’s Tyre and Mechanical Benchmark 66 Handicap.
Coming from near last, the talented Sea Lady ( Greg Ryan, $3.70 ) beat Hammoon Bridge ( Mathew Cahill, $3.30 ) with Beale Street ( Josh Adams, $6 ) in third place.
