Although the husband and wife were about 10 minutes behind schedule, that certainly didn’t deter the crowd, who cheered when they saw the royals emerge from their aircraft.

Casually dressed and all smiles, the royal couple were warmly greeted by officials, members of the community and media.

As they made their way through the tarmac, the parents-to-be were also met by a throng of local children from Dubbo schools.

While making their way through the procession line, the husband and bride took their time greeting their young royal fans.

Just as they made their way to the end, the couple stopped to chat with five-year-old Luke Vincent, from Buninyong Public School, who gave both the Duke and Duchess a generous hug.

It was announced on Monday that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were expecting their first child in mid 2019.

And while royal watchers were eager to catch a glimpse of the Duchesses baby bump, she casually hid it behind an over-sized shirt and coat.

The trip to Dubbo is the second day of their tour to Australia and coincides with the Invictus Games in Sydney, which begins on Saturday and runs for a week.

They have a total of 76 engagements across 16 days in Australia, Fiji, Tonga and New Zealand, which also includes Melbourne and Queensland's Fraser Island.
