Dreamtime Tuka was founded and operated by Wiradjuri man Herb Smith, who is directly descended from the original inhabitants of the Wellington Valley.
The business launched just a few years ago and has grown in that time from a solely local venture to partnering with QANTAS.

“I grew up in Wellington, and the story is just so unique; an ex-copper with no business experience starting up his own food company,” Mr Smith said.
“We’re the first 100% Aboriginal company with food on planes and now we’re also the first with food on trains, as well.”
As part of the new arrangement with QANTAS, Dreamtime Tuka food products will be provided in each of the Members, Business and Chairman’s lounge.
“Twenty two trains leave Sydney daily and now our slices and food are going to be on each of those on the buffet cart.”
Mr Smith says that he’s particularly proud of what the company has done to provide opportunities in Wellington.
“It’s good for Wellington, particularly the young people there.”
