A man has been arrested in Wellington for possessing the illicit drug ice.

At 1.50pm on Wednesday, August 15, police were patrolling Simpson Street in Wellington when they observed a white Holden commodore accelerating harshly. Police saw the vehicle make a sudden turn on Zouch Street where the driver parked and attempted to leave.
Police stopped the driver and due to his manner of driving and acting in a suspicious manner he was informed that he would be searched in relation of possible possession of prohibited drugs.
The driver informed police he was in possession of prohibited drugs which were then located in his pants pocket. Also located was a large amount of cash.
The male was arrested and conveyed to Wellington police station where he was charged for possession of one gram of methyl amphetamine (ICE), dealing with proceeds of crime and breach of conditional bail.
The male was bail refused. He will appear at Wellington Local Court on October 16.
