As part of Dubbo Regional Council’s Street Scenes, pop-up stalls were installed in empty shop fronts. Ms Frappell thought she would give it a try through her business Janelle’s Soaps and Succulents.

“I thought I’ll see hoe this goes. It’s something different and it’s nice to be in an enclosed environment, away from the harsh weather,” she said.

“I’ve never worked in retail before so this is totally different. I’ve worked in a bank and I’ve worked in childcare.”

Ms Frappell said having the pop-up store had showed her the importance of having a diverse range of products. If she opened a store permanently, the business owner said she would have to expand the range of what she sold.

Street Scenes, which is part of Ignite, aimed to inject some vibrancy into the CBD through street art and pop-up stores. It runs until Saturday, August 18.

Saddler and Co from Dubbo is also running a pop-up store during the Street Scenes.

Ms Frappell said it had been a great idea, and a great use of the empty storefronts, however she said she would have liked to have seen more businesses run pop-up stores.
