Tharpa Choeling Australia held a birthday celebration for His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.
The spiritual leader of the Tibetan people will turn 83-years-old this month. He celebrated with his own cake at the Shiwatsel Teaching Ground in India.
In honour of the birthday, the Wellington Buddhist Centre invited the public to celebrate at the weekend.
There was a welcome and meditations written by the Dalai Lama, as well as birthday cake. Attendees also had the opportunity to make origami lanterns and prayer flags.
Others opted to have a hand massage or see the creation of a mandala and or learn about mantra calligraphy.
July is also Buddhist Action Month at the centre. Each week the Wellington Buddhist Centre will look at one of the positive precepts to see how it can be used to make a positive change.
