Rainfall last week was meant to be in the vicinity of 10 to 20mm however most ended with 3 to 5mm especially in the south of Wellington. Higher falls of up to 15mm fell around the Bodangora area and up to 27mm at Elong.

At Dubbo last Thursday 2010 prime cattle penned a reduction of 3810 on the previous week, due mainly to expected rain which did fall on the northern west of the state.
It was a good quality yarding of finished trade cattle and some cows. Trade young cattle rose nine to 15 cents, feeder cattle gained up to 18 cents, restocker young cattle improved three to 11 cents with steers selling from 200 to 315 cents and the heifers ranging from 170 to 280 cents per Kg, heavy heifers were ten cents dearer, most grades of cows improved three to ten cents.
Quotations Calves 156 to 312, steer vealers 200 to 318, heifer vealers 170 to 314, steer yearlings 160 to 319, heifer yearlings 86 to 293, limited numbers of heavy steers and bullocks sold from 211 to 309, heavy heifers 76 to 278, light cows 52 to 130, medium cows 106 to 209, heavy cows 170 to 230, bulls 185 to 244.
Dubbo on Monday 20,000 lambs penned for the first sale of the financial year. Processor light lambs were firm to $4 dearer, trade lambs were firm to $4 cheaper, heavy lambs lost $4.
Merino lambs fell $5, trade weight merinos sold from $123 to $163, however an exceptional pen of heavies made $213, re-stocker lambs were down $6 ranging from $77 to $95, first cross ewe lambs made $122 to $127, hoggets reached $175.
Quotations Light lambs $12 to $127, medium lamb $117 to $156, heavy lamb $126 to $174, supermarket lamb $155 to $206, export lamb $186 to $255.
8040 mutton penned in a mixed quality yarding with most grades $3 to $7 dearer.
Quotations Light ewes $29 to $100, medium ewes $89 to $142, heavy ewes $120 to $213, light wethers $20 to $99, medium wethers $100 to $154, heavy wethers $120 to $217, rams $61 to $145, ram lambs $76 to $170.
Shute Bell report that last weeks sale which was the final sale of the 2017/18 financial year resulted in some mixed results with the northern region indicator closing at 2088 cents per Kg clean a fall of 22 cents, following the previous weeks substantial rise.
The offering contained a wider variety of types as some growers had been holding wool for this sale.
In general a higher percentage of lots had heavier VM readings and higher mid-point break percentages, well prepared lower VM lots were less impacted and the majority of these types finished the week at similar levels to the previous week.
Buyers are searching for the most even and well prepared lots and paying accordingly. The market is now 35 per cent higher than a year ago and the gross price for wool traded through the auction system has totalled 3.4 billion dollars for the year.
