The club has recently finished the stylish new entry and undercover walkway and is in the process of having landscaping done to complete the look.
The club board is now planning to extend its restaurant area to include an improved children’s area and family seating.
The club’s secretary-manager David French said the reaction from members to the changes has been overwhelming.
“[The entrance update] was long overdue. We thought the inside of the club was a lovely facility but looking at the outside of the club, we thought it needed a bit of a lift,” Mr French said.
“On wet days it gives members a better area to walk out of when going to a taxi, and creates additional shade.”
“Everyone who has walked in has said to me it was one of the best things we have done recently. It’s been very positive. Members, patrons and other people who have come in have given us a thumbs up.”
Mr French said the design of the new entrance matched the existing roofline of the club, with an angular style.
The next step for the club is the design of a new restaurant area which will appeal to families. Mr French said the club had established a small children’s area and sent out a survey to gain feedback on the concept.
It gained 97.5 per cent positive feedback and encouraged the club to go ahead with the restaurant extension.
“[The extension] will be a kids area at one end and seating for about 40 people. There will be plenty there for children to play with,” Mr French said.
“We have younger families, our older members and some in between. There are lots of patrons coming to the restaurant and it’s been very busy over the last few years.
“We’re now drawing up plans and then we will look at the budget and the costings and we will begin that project. We’re hoping to complete that before the end of the year.”
Mr French said the changes were designed to make the club better for patrons.
