Library week
Lots happening in the library next week, starting on Monday with an open day to showcase everything the library has to offer. On Tuesday come and browse through the old Wellington Times newspapers and take a look at the Trove website which has newspapers from all over Australia. Thursday is Tech Help Day so come in if you need assistance with your ipad, iphone or kindle. Friday is Games Day, come and have a go at a jigsaw puzzle, Dominoes, Jenga, Connect 4 or play a game of cards. Come in, relax and enjoy the warmth.
National Simultaneous Storytime is on Wednesday, May 23 starting at 11am with this years book being Hickory Dickory Dash by Tony Wilson. NSS is an annual campaign by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) that aims to encourage more young Australians to read and enjoy books. Every year a picture book written and illustrated by an Australian, is read across the country in libraries, schools, childcare centres and homes, on the same day and same time.
Railways
Coming on Tuesday June 5 the Library will be hosting Author of Railway Hotels of Australia Scott Whitaker, who will be discussing the history of the railways, local Railway Hotels, researching tips and self-publishing. This is a free event and will be an early evening session starting at 5.30pm to try and cater for everyone. Bookings are required on 6840 1780.
