The Family had 13 players on hand to enjoy the occasion with Jean giving a nice little insight into how Ron became involved with the Golf and the Club.
From this, I believe the extended family are looking at having a Lawn Bowls day next year for everyone to support as “Bowls” came before taking up Golf.
$900 ($600 Golf & $300 Frappell family) was donated to the Club’s Machinery Fund from the day’s effort – thank you to all. Well done to Pauline Potts and her Ladies Committee for organising.
Winning combinations were for the Men’s Kurt Cusack and Lewis McCarthy and the Ladies Jan Payne and Gae Drew.
Mixed:- Andrew and Debbie Wright (Ron and Jean’s Nephew and wife). Longest Drives for Men’s Ben Wright and for theLadies Denise Haesler.
Nearest the Pins for Men’s was Rod Irwin and for the Ladies it was Gae Drew. Raffle Winners:- Ruth Lay, Sandra Frappell and Peter Bryant.
Ladies Golf
Today see’s the second Lousick and Cornish/Hollow Stableford Events with next week being the 27 Hole Event.
The rounds have been swapped, as the Club today welcomes the Beverley Park Group who have been coming around this time every year with their lunch being supplied by the Ladies.
Girls on the Committee do not forget the Meeting following Golf today.
Western Districts Golf Tournament: The Club will be well represented at this Tournament in a couple of weeks.
Saturday, May 26 and Sunday, May 27: Saturday will see Wellington hosting the Gulgong Cup inter-club visit which is set as a 4BBB Aggregate in the day’s Program of events.
This day is again another “mixed” day with points allocated for the Cup. Sunday is the Precision Health sponsored Wellington Mens Open Tournament
Functions at the Club: Congratulations and thank you to Raymond Day and family for having his 30th Birthday celebrations at the Club on Saturday. A great night was had by all from adults to children.
Easter saw the Club holding Helen Swan and Ann Mara’s wedding reception, which saw a fabulous celebration with friends and family.
The Club is available for functions whether it be Parties, Weddings, Dinners, Conferences or any celebrations, so if you are interested, please contact Marie on 0407 458 413 or the Club 68 452130 and she will be only too willing to assist you.
GOLF REPORT
Wellington Golf Club saw 32 golfers start in Round 1 of the Wellington Plant Hire four Ball Best Ball Aggregate last Saturday and many thanks to Katharine and John Southwell for there kind support of this event.
This Saturdays events are the May Monthly Medal in A and B grades with the the kind sponsor of this event being the Wellington Soldiers Memorial Club, round 1 of the Naveau Earthmoving Championship plus the Neil Hollow Putting competition.
Winners from last Saturdays event and on a count back were Norm Royal and Gary McCarroll who finished with 48 points. Runners-up who also finished with 48 points were Fletcher Ivey and Tony Cowan.
Ball competition winners were Gary McCarroll-Norm Royal 48 points, Tony Cowan-Fletcher Ivey 48 ponts, Neil Hollow-Malcolm Payne 47 points, John Gersbach-Rod McMahon 47 points, John Southwell-David East 45 points.
Gersbachs Mechanical nearest the pin in two shots on a mystery hole went to Gareth Peterson. McDonald's biggest whack in A grade went to Fletcher Ivey and in B grade it went to Rodney Cunynghame. Brent's NFI award winners last Saturday were Lewis McCarthy and Ron Cowan who combined for just 35 points.
