Dubbo Regional Council mayor, Ben Shields, said council has shown a real commitment to identify and secure funding to allocate to projects identified as priorities within each community.
He said the Tom Culkin Oval Project Stage 1 at Geurie is one example of improved infrastructure that will reap benefits within the community.
This project included the installation of a concrete slab and refurbished skate park elements, a fully-lined multi-court with fursal, netball and basketball, installation of a new internal fence and renewal of the existing playgrounds’ soft-fall material and the installation of two new elements.
Moxon Park at Stuart Town has also undergone a revamping with the granite path complete, soon to be followed by the installation of an Iron Bark Fence and playground renewal.
A playground installation at Eucahreena is expected to be finalised this week and there has also been timber fencing put in around the cemetery.
“All of these works have been funded by the NSW Government’s Stronger Communities Fund, and there are even more projects coming up that have been funded by a combination of council money and external sources,” Mr Shields said.
“Other projects on the horizon that have been allocated funds include the Wongarbon Playground Renewal that is scheduled for June and the Rosewood Grove Algona Park Redevelopment which will take place later this year.”
Stronger Communities projects are funded by the NSW Government.
