Yearlings were in the majority and few vealers were present.
The market eased 15 to 20 cents on most of the better cattle and 20 to 25 cents for the lighter and plainer types. Restocking type cows were firm reaching 180 cents per Kg for PTIC cows.
Quotations Calves 300 to 330, steer vealers 190 to 325, heifer vealers 200 to 291, steer yearlings 134 to 311, heifer yearlings 119 to 280; heavy steers 169 to 282, bullocks 231 to 273, heavy heifers 118 to 268, light cows 90 to 126, medium cows 80 to 212, heavy cows 150 to 224, bulls 164 to 251.
At CTLX Carcoar last Friday 8200 store cattle were penned in a fair to good quality yarding, weaner steers lost $150 to sell from $230 to $945 to avg 270 to 280 cents per Kg, weaner heifers fell around $75 to range from $200 to $690 to avg 220 to 250 cents per Kg. Yearling steers traded from $585 to $975 or 226 to 277 cents per Kg. Yearling heifers realised $350 to $785 to avg 203 cents per Kg.
PTIC heifers made from $750 to $1360 to avg $1127. PTIC cows sold from $410 to $1200, cows and calves ranged from $680 to $1225 for a pen of Angus, unjoined cows traded from $260 to $535 to avg $432. Feeder steers realised $700 to $870 to avg $801.
Monday at Dubbo 21,200 lambs penned in a much better-quality yarding of trade and heavy weights although there were still large numbers showing the effects of the dry season.
Processor light lambs were firm to $3 dearer, trade weight lambs fell $2 while the heavier trade weights lost up to $7, heavy weight lambs were $3 to $5 cheaper, merino lambs were down $5 to $8 trading from $93 to $134 for trade weights while a single pen of heavier weights made $142, restocker lambs were firm selling from $70 to $112 while feeder lambs made from $102 to $123 and hoggets topped at $135.
Quotations Light lamb $30 to $100, medium lamb $96 to $120, heavy lamb $101 to $135, supermarket lamb $125 to $166, export lamb $164 to $202.
13750 mutton penned with light weight sheep in the majority in a mixed quality yarding however most grades fell $12 to $15, restockers offered fair support paying $21 to $59 for suitable sheep.
Quotations Light ewes $21 to $86, medium ewes $68 to $128, heavy ewes $100 to $189, light wethers $42 to $80, medium wethers $68 to $114, heavy wethers $132 to $172. Rams $42 to $100, ram lambs $45 to $108.
Schute Bell report that last weeks sale was the largest national offering of the season to date. Sales resumed after the Easter break recess and opened on a softer cautious note, especially for the merino types with falls of up to 25 cents recorded.
