The “Good Sense of Humour”(GSOH) group had a great trip to Bateman’s Bay area courses, Saturday’s Quains and Local Liquor event with the Diggers on Sunday.
Ladies
Wednesday saw Cheryl Royal and Denise Haesler take out the 2018 Ladies Foursomes Championships with Pauline Potts and Marg Macarthur winning Division 2.
Both weeks’ saw all 11 pairs playing along with Kathy Coon first week and Ronda Payne and visitor – Megan Stokes last week.
Runners up in both Divisions were:- Min Burge and Kathy Martin, Carmel Cohen and Sue Smith.
Division 1 Handicap winners were Cheryl / Denise with Min/Kathy runners up.
Division 2 saw Pauline / Marg with Ruth Lay / Jean Frappell runners up.
A big “Thank you” to Red Cross for providing a very nice luncheon for us all to enjoy.
Today’s Events are:
Monthly Medal – Stroke, second Monnie Newman, Stanford, WGNSW and Mabel McKenzie
Big day for card and starters, so maybe we can all hop in help where can.
Friday’s Pennants versus Dubbo
The team (Denise, Min, Kathy, Cheryl and Gae Drew) went down four games to one, with many going to the 17th hole.
Their next game is against Mudgee at home with a date TBA.
Men’s Golfing News
GSOH Group - 15 players set off Saturday 7th on the 23rd trip, this year to the Bateman’s Bay area.
They played at Bateman’s Bay on Sunday and Thursday, Narooma Monday, Moruya Tuesday and Mollymook on Wednesday.
Congratulations to Doug Ney (1st trip) proved too strong for the field returning 185 points for the week which gave him an average of 37 pts per day, unheard of on previous trips.
Saturday’s Quains and Local Liquor two Person Ambrose” Event with “wine tasting” and “cheese platters” afterwards was a great success with plans to make this an annual event.
A big thank you to Mick Donelly (Local Liquor Sales Rep) and Tom Simpson (Quains Liquor Manager) for putting on the day and evening.
55 players participated with 8 visitors.
Winners for the day were:-
Mens - David Burke and Kevin Reid 64
Mixed – Rod and Alison Irwin 70.75
Ladies – Cheryl Royal and Denise Haesler 71.5
Nearest the Pins on eighth were:- Doug Ney and Megan Stokes
Longest Drives on the ninth were:- Wayne Lang and Denise Haesler
McDonalds Longest Drive on the 18th:- A Grade Matt Redfern, B Grade Cameron Batho
Gersbach’s Mechanical NTP on the 13th:- Normie Royal
Stubberfield’s NTP’s belonged to the McCarthy Family – third Lewis, 14th Ben and 16th Lewis.
Big “thank you” this week to Geoff Walker for putting out all the Pins, this job is normally done by whoever arrives early to play.
Doug’s “Wheel of Fortune” Machinery Fundraiser was in action with Duckie Gillard and Aliana Zimmernmann (visitor) taking home some prize money.

Round 1 of the “Cornish Trophy” KO – games must be played before or on Saturday.
The day’s event 4B Aggregate is being sponsored by Jan Payne’s “Happy Feet”

Sunday saw 12 players participating with the following results

- Average—Dave Gillard
- NTP’s: Errol Flood, Alan McMahon,
- Heather Peiper, Jean Frappell
- Ave Nett—Frank Wooding.
- Ave Gross—Kathy Martin
Their next outing is planned for Sunday, April 29.
Twilight Golf Presentation
Friday, April 20
This Friday night from 6.30pm sees the “windup” of the 2017-18 Twilight Competition
If you haven’t advised your attendance for catering purposes, could you please do so asap to either
Chica, Coug, Peter Payne or Marie.
This night is always great fun and the competition owes a big thank you to Chica, Peter, Coug and Wendy for running and keeping your scores “upto date” every week.
ANZAC Day Golf
Wednesday, April 25, the Club is holding the “Ron Frappell” Memorial 4BBB Day in memory of a wonderful man and family.
The Ladies Committee are sponsoring the day which will cost $25 per player with BBQ and prizes, plus need a little change for the raffle and drinks.
Tee time is from 12.30pm to 1.30pm.
Pairs can be either male, mixed or female.
