Council’s Ignite Program will run from March 29 to April 24 and is specially designed to support commercial and social activation across the Dubbo and Wellington CBDs and the  Economic Development Services Team work collaboratively with businesses and community groups to create programs from Pop-ups to Placemaking.

Council’s Economic Development Officer Shannon Starr said the Street Scenes program is designed to activate the town centre and encourage people to stop, linger and appreciate the talent of our artists.

“This period captures two of the busiest weekends of the year for the region with flagship events such as the Burrendong Fishing Classic, The Man from Ironbark Festival and The Wellington Boot attracting visitors from throughout NSW,” Ms Starr said.

Curated by Wellington Arts, the Ignite Street Scenes project features talented artists from throughout the Region.

“Six spaces will be activated including the compound next to The Mallee Hen’s Nest, 133 Lee Street, 9 Nanima Crescent, Wellington Visitor Information Centre, Western Stores and 30 Maughan Street,” Ms Starr said.

“The committee is excited to announce artists such as nationally recognised artists Eris Fleming and Adam King will be displaying works as well as the many flamboyant artists from throughout the region.

“Council is excited to continue to roll out the Ignite program across the LGA to include Wellington because unique, experimental ideas increase the vibrancy and vitality of our towns, and our team will be heading out into the community to speak with you soon.”
