Construction is progressing at a rapid pace, according to project manager Stuart Black, who said site access roads and base foundations are progressing well, while the final shipment of turbine components are due to arrive in Australia in late March.
“Grid connection works are on schedule, TransGrid have commenced the stringing of the overhead line to site and the main grid transformer has now been delivered to site,” he said.
“The intersection of Goolma and Gillinghall roads is currently being upgraded to allow for the upcoming delivery of turbine components and extraordinary traffic.”
“Deliveries are scheduled to commence late March, all main deliveries will arrive at site via the Castlereagh Highway and Goolma Road before turning onto Gillinghall Road and on the main site access roads, all deliveries will be escorted.”
The Bodangora Wind Farm project will make history in the Wellington area as the first of its kind, as well as paving the way for other renewable energy projects.
“We are preparing the site for the unique role it will play in the economy of the local communities in the region in the future.”
“Energy from this wind farm has the potential to power up to 49,000 homes each year.”
Infigen Energy is also powering the local community through sponsorship of iconic local events including the Wellington Boot, Vintage Fair and the annual show.
