On Thursday at Dubbo 4400 cattle penned in a yarding. Restocker and feeder weaners were firm, very light weaner heifers were slightly dearer improving 2 to 5 cents.
Yearlings sold firm to 11 cents dearer, the heifer portion rose 6 cents, medium weights gained 3 to 8 cents, heavy heifers were firm, heavy steers were slightly dearer by 6 cents, heavy heifers were cheaper down 3 to 5 cents, restocker light cows gained 4 cents, heavy cows fell 2 to 9 cents.
Quotations: calves 270 to 360.2, steer vealers 252.2 to 350, heifers vealers 226.2 to 372.2, steer yearlings 220 to 330.2, heifer yearlings 198.2 to 281.2, heavy steers 201.2 to 260.2, bullocks 224.2 to 269.2, heavy heifers 190 to 258, light cows 120.2 to 185.2, medium cows 120 to 215.2, heavy cows 172.2 to 220.2, bulls 180 to 255.2.
Friday store cattle sale was at CTLX Carcoar with 3,318 penned with the majority being weaners. Weaner steers sold from $90 to $1155, weaner heifers ranged from $240 to $920, steer yearlings traded from $520 to $1050, heifer yearlings realised $650 to $930, PTIC heifers made from $1000 to $1400, PTIC cows sold from $550 to $1675, cows and calves ranged from $775 to $1940.
Dubbo on Monday 21,450 lambs penned in a fair quality yarding with a good selection of heavies and only odd pens of trade weights. Processor light lambs fell $10, trade lambs lost $8 to $12, odd pens of heavy weights were firm though most dropped $5, Merino lambs were firm with trade weights selling from $100 to $136, with a single pen of heavies making $140, lambs to restockers were firm ranging from $61 to $125.
Quotations: light young lamb $50 to $106, medium young lamb $102 to $123, heavy young lamb $126 to 136, light lamb $51 to $107, medium lamb $95 to $124, heavy lamb $133 to $155, supermarket lambs $133 to $174, export lambs $163 to $216.
11,750 mutton penned with a large percentage of plainer sheep with limited numbers of properly finished sheep. Plain conditioned mutton lost $3, medium and heavy weights were around firm.
Quotations: light ewes $30 to $80, medium ewes $58 to $150, heavy ewes $75 to $165, light wethers $48 to $75, medium wethers $85 to $127, heavy wethers $118 to $147, rams $42 to $83, ram lamb $35 to $115.
Schute Bell report that last week’s wool market staged a strong form reversal, all types were dearer at the opening and continued to increase as the first day progressed. Further small gain were registered on the final day.
The 20 and 21 micron indicators hit unchartered territory with the 21 micron almost 90 cents dearer, 38,755 bales were sold nationally with a 2.1 per cent passed in rate.
