Congratulations to Sara Darney who was a member of the winning NSW Female Indigenous Cricket team who won their 11th title on Monday in Alice Springs.
Sara was chosen in the Black Caps Team of the Carnival and is inline for selection for their Tour to England around the middle of the year having been named in the Touring 2017 Training 20 person squad. The tour along with the male team will be celebrating 150 years since the first Indigenous Cricket team toured there.
Sara statistics for carnival: Leading Batting aggregate with 220 runs, average 73.33 with highest score of 75. Hitting her straps in the finals series with 52no and 55 no respectively. Leading fielder with six catches, equal second overall on points allocated by Umpires for Player of Carnival.
Sally Moylan is also in line for the Tour, having been part of the Northern Territory team as Captain for the past number of years’ and a mentor to all the new youngsters coming through their programs. A number of these girls are now playing in South Australia and Sally has been a past member of the ACT Meteors.
Western NSW were well represented throughout the carnival with Roxi Van Veen (Lithgow) in the NSW team and Nicki Honeysett (Gulgong) with Northern Territory, while in the Men’s team (who also returned winners) three players (Patterson, Larance and Jeffery) are all from Dubbo and named in the Black Caps Team of the Carnival.
In Indigenous Carnival, female players from Western forgot Dimity Parton (Blayney) who is related to the “West” family in Wellington.
Local Cricket, Seniors: Last round on Saturday for 2017-2018 Competition games before the semi-finals series. No results handed in yet, hopefully all teams have forwarded their results to Angus for correlation. Next week, the final point score and draw for Semi-finals. Teams having a bye be available to umpire games please.
Saturday’s games: 1pm Rygate – Federal Hotel versus Peckers. 4pm Rygate – Redferns versus Ducks. 4pm Pioneer 2 – Farmers versus Geurie. Ballbusters have the bye.
Senior Representative Team: Wellington hosted Narromine at home on Sunday, going down 229 runs (Will Redfern five wkst for 26 runs from ten overs, Brad Johnson two for 44 from ten and Dillon Price one for 27 from nine) to 152 runs (Bailey Peston 37 runs). Have a bye for the final round on Sunday, February 25 and look like securing first spot and a home grand final for March 11.
Juniors: 12Bs lost in a great game to Dubbo Cyms White six for 163 runs to six for 122 runs with no details available. 12As enter day two of their game against Macquarie once again no details are available.
Milo T20 Blast: Recommenced last Wednesday with all players in attendance receiving their T20 Blast Packs which included a Cap and Shirt.
