Millie (13) has been gigging with her father, Paul, for some time and they were joined by guitarist, Ethan Styles (15) last year. Both teenagers play guitar and piano, taught by Mrs Carol Conn.
The trio now have a number of local gigs under their belt, and are eager to perform the 30 minute set at the Tamworth festival on January 26. In addition to this the group will busk on the streets of Tamworth, and will compete in the Young Star Makers on January 24.
“More than anything this is a fabulous, fun experience,” Millie said.
“The opportunity to play music as a busker, a competitor and a ABC Stage Performer in Peel Street will be priceless.
“[We] are also going to see some of Australia’s greatest performers old and new, and to be among that will be incredible.”
As for long-term goals Millie said if music is where it’s at, then that’s what they will continue to do. In doing so she hopes to inspire other young musicians to follow their dreams.
“Don't be shy, [a message] to anyone who loves doing something is just have a go,” she said.
“Make the most of every opportunity and reach for the stars.”
You can catch some of the action this week as the group performs for the Music In Between Festival at the Cow and Calf from 6pm-9pm on Friday, January 19.
