Many of Wellington’s cricket fans have been getting their fix via the Test Match or Big Bash League games, however the action is set to return to the Central West this week for the second half of the 2017-18 season.

Sydney Ashes Test
Loren, Bianca Douglas and Marie Cornish had the honour of representing Wellington District Cricket at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Sunday Day 4, the extremely warm day as part of Cricket NSW and Cricket Australia’s Volunteers Day Celebrations.
They along with some 200 odd other volunteers had the experience of walking onto the ground and half way around the interior fence line at the tea break.
Fabulous idea by The SCG Trust and Cricket Australia, it has been many many years since spectators have officially been allowed on to the “hallow turf” after the close of a day’s play, maybe because it was the “Ashes Series” and we won convincingly.
Representative Cricket
Callee Black is presently experiencing a very good School Sports Australia Carnival, bowling and batting very well in the NSW Invitational Team.
Cricket NSW Boys State Challenge Games Monday, January 22-25.
Seniors
The next two weeks (January 13 and 20) will see games played at Dubbo, Rygate and Geurie.
This gives players the opportunity to consider playing day/night games, providing both teams agree and arrangements have been made with the Association.
Please remember the “Heat Policy” (all team representatives will resent it) and common sense with “drink breaks” etc.
The “point score” will be sent to all teams after this weekend as due to harvest and the Christmas break, some results were not received by Angus. Those teams that haven’t sent results through, please do so ASAP.
Draw for January 13:
1pm: Federal Hotel versus Geurie at Geurie; Amaroo Peckers versus Ducks in Dubbo.
4pm: Farmers versus Ball Busters at Rygate; Bye is Redferns.
January 20 – changed from Pioneer to Rygate due to Cricket NSW Junior Boys (Under 13s and 14s) State Challenge games.
1pm: Ducks versus Geurie at Dubbo; Farmers verses Peckers at Rygate.
4pm: Redferns versus Ball Busters; Bye is Federal Hotel.
Annual 7 A-side Carnival Saturday 27th January
If players wish for the 2018 Carnival to proceed, people from the six teams who have indicated they would like to play need to put their hand up to actually run it.
What is involved: Manning the canteen, taking pre and on day nominations, doing the draw for all games etc. and overseeing the whole day. Please advise Loren Douglas ASAP as a decision will be made on Sunday. No interest – no carnival.
