Wellington High School students Ryan Chatfield and Khristian Tailby got to rub shoulders with some of Australia’s biggest V8 Supercar stars at the world famous Bathurst 1000 on Thursday.

Ryan and Khristian thoroughly enjoyed working trackside on the first day of practice, a dream opportunity that was made possible through TAFE NSW’s TAFE-delivered Vocational Education and Training (TVET) program.
The Certificate II in Automotive students worked in TAFE NSW’s Mount Panorama Motorsport Training Centre, providing mechanical and panel repairs on a variety of racing cars.
“It was a wonderful opportunity for Ryan, Khristian and the other students from across western NSW to get some hands-on learning, but also to experience the thrill of Australia’s biggest V8 Supercar race first hand,” TAFE NSW Automotive Teacher, John Ewing, said.
“Both Ryan and Khristian were very enthusiastic and valuable members of the TAFE NSW Mount Panorama Motorsport Team on the day.”
