Wellington Library | Book Week celebrations continue

Book Week 2017

Book Week continues in the library this week with children from local schools taking the opportunity to visit and celebrate a love of reading and listen to stories from the selection of short listed titles of some of Australia’s best children’s authors.

Some of the book titles are also available via Story Box Library, accessible with your library card through the library website. The Book Week books will be available for loan as from next week, so get in early to nab your favourites.

What’s New

All the latest fiction titles are now housed in one collection – Quick Picks, to make your borrowing experience even better. So come and check out Quick Picks next time you’re in the library and see how easy it is to find your favourite author’s latest book or even find other authors who write in the same genre.

Flipping Houses for Dummies – Are you wondering how to turn a house from pitiful to profitable? This hands on guide shows you how to roll up your sleeves and find the perfect property, secure a mortgage, and make valuable improvements.

Dare To Be Kind – Born with a rare genetic condition, Lizzie Velasquez always knew she was different, though not necessarily what that meant to others. Then, at 17, she came across a YouTube video of herself entitled ‘The World’s Ugliest Woman”. It had already been viewed millions of times. Instead of hiding from the countless cruel comments, Lizzie decided to fight back on behalf of all victims of bullying, and to do it using the very medium that had spawned this hatred.
