Westhaven raised the bar to take an 8-4 victory in the Kennard Park clash to lock the sides at one win each for the 2017 series. The result comes after a 5-4 win for the Blues in Round 1.
Wellington Aboriginal Community Liaison Officer, Zeke Shaw, said the Gungie squad remain hungry as ever to level the competition that went to the Maroons in 2014 and 2015, and the Blues in 2016.
“Westhaven held their spirits up high during the game, they were switched on and walked away with their win,” he said.
“Gungie Blues captain Senior Sargent Ross Gibson has food for thought to go back to the dressing sheds of the Blues and think about what strategies he wants to employ comes game three, the decider.
“This last game is really critical, should the Gungie Blues win it levels all the series up.”
The Gungie Origin round focused on promoting a healthy lifestyle aspect to the community.
“It plays a very significant role in how we bond people together through challenging those boundaries and negative stigma in the community,” Zeke said.
Game three of Gungie Origin will be held on Sunday, July 2 when the Cowboys meet the Forbes Magpies.
