There were only six entries across the entire Other Recognised Breeds category: four Gelbviehs, one Brangus and one Lincoln Red, none older than 14 months.
The best overall exhibit winner was the 12-month-old Brangus bull from Wellington named RDM Extra Style, owned by RDM Angus stud operators the Wheeler family.
Handler and owner Rachael Wheeler said he had it all where it counted.
“I really like this bull, he’s got a huge amount of weight for his age,” Ms Wheeler said. “He’s for sale, but barring anything there we’ll head up to Brisbane (for the Ekka).”
Runner-up overall and champion female was Glendale Just Candy M31 from the Glendale Gelbvieh Stud at Serpentine, just south of Perth. At 11 months Just Candy M31 was the second youngest of the four Gelbviehs that Barry and Michelle Fleming brought over from the West Coast.
