The St Mary’s girls and boy’s touch football teams were back in action on Thursday taking on Molong Central School at the Molong Recreational Ground in Molong.

The teams have been training all term since their last carnival in March and were using their yearly match with Molong as a trial to prepare for regional carnivals in Dubbo and Bathurst next term.
Hannah Pace led the girls out to start the day pairing up with Madison Hunt in the links accompanied by Josie Clarke and Kate Hannelly in the middle. The team played a tight structure moving the ball down the field and working their set moves to get some great tries out wide to their wingers. In the second half the girls exploded out of the blocks with Kate Hannelly playing possessed not giving any space in defence and running in 2 tries. Also to cross the line was Hannah Pace, Josie Clarke, Piper Keirle and Claudia Whiteman to finish the game 7-4 winners.
All girls played with excellent enthusiasm and supported each other all day to put on a great performance and have a lot of fun.
The boy’s team had a tight first half going into the break up by one point. In the second half the boys came out and settled into their game to control the ball and tempo with numerous players going over for tries to win 15-7.
Control and positive communication was what came out in the second half as the boys rolled down the field led by middles Darcy Tierney, Jack Owens and Jesse Mills to lay the platform for the outside links and wings waiting to finish of with numerous tries to Brad McCarroll, Callum Smith, Lachlan Carney, Anthony Glawson and Thomas Keirle.
‘It was a bit of a try fest. Both teams really showed improvement today working as a team and making sure all players where involved and did their job in the team. They should all be very proud of their performance today they all stepped up’.
Coming up for St Mary’s next will be a huge week of sport in week 2 of next term will start with 7 teams participating at the NSW Touch Football Carnival in Dubbo on Tuesday the 21 of July, players will then back up for Regionals on the 23 followed by Central Schools Athletics.
