A man has surrendered to police following a tense four-hour siege near the central western NSW town of Orange.
It is understood the man fired shots at around 8am and then created an armed stand off inside a house on Cargo Road, with his nine-year-old son also inside.
Police negotiators spent the morning locked in talks, trying to persuade him to end the crisis.
The man gave himself up shortly after 11.30am and handed over his son, who officers confirmed was safe and well. He has been taken to Orange Police Station for questioning.
