The White Crane Martial Arts Gathering at Wellington gave people a chance learn both body and energy control alongside of real world, practical self-defense skills.
The main feature of the weekend was a visit by Wushu Kungfu Master, Fong Lee.
At 74 years of age yet Master Lee is capable of putting most young men to shame with his endless energy, ultra-flexibility and endless knowledge of the arts.
When Master Lee learned that local Martial Arts Instructor Ron Goninan was hosting the gathering he said “as a longtime friend, mentor and colleague of Ron Goninan, I knew I had to be there!”
Master Lee did several demonstrations of Chinese martial arts and weapons and had everyone watching on in awe.
The weekend also saw the Official launch of “Tao Martial Arts and Lifestyle” magazine.
The special project is published by UK-based Peter Love, who was also at the Gathering, and its editor, Mr Goninan.
The magazine has been well-received in Australia, UK, USA, Spain, Taiwan, China, Malaysia and offers a fresh look at real Martial arts of the world, Mr Love said.
Publisher, UK’s Peter Love said “Having Ron as the Editor places Wellington well and truly on the world map and I hope the local community will support his efforts not only for the Magazine but for real non-commercial Martial Arts as a vehicle towards making good people, better!”
