The Road to Remembrance is a 10-part series that explores the fighting in France and Belgium and the impact on Diggers in Europe and those at home.
The series is a partnership between Fairfax Media and the Department of Veterans’ Affairs.
It coincides with upcoming centenary commemorations of major battles as well as the launch of the Sir John Monash Centre in Villers-Bretonneux on Anzac Day 2018.
The stories cover the horrors of trench warfare and gas attacks, the valour of Diggers and the personal sacrifices from regional Australian towns.
The Australian War Memorial has provided research and images for the series.
We are also seeking stories from our communities about their relatives who fought on the Western Front.
