The countdown has been on and after much anticipation and excitement, Orana Relay For Life is almost here!

A week remains between now and the 2017 relay which will kick off at 11am on Saturday, October 28 at Barden Park, Dubbo.
Gates and registrations will be open from 11am on Saturday, with the opening ceremony commencing at 3pm. The honorary survivors and carers lap will commence around 3.20pm, followed by a complimentary survivors and carers afternoon tea.
Registration to the event is $20 and includes an official Relay For Life shirt as well as a healthy breakfast on Sunday, October 29.
The volunteer organising committee have been hard at work organising entertainment and activities for everyone to enjoy.
Some of the activities to keep the family entertained include, face painting, Zumba with Tracy, flying fox, Rugby skills training, combat archery, giant garden games and Tug O War.
There will also be performances by local dance schools as well as music by Issac Compton, Sarah Head and Justine Kuhner, not to mention Killing Heidi will be performing!
This year’s theme for Relay is ‘athletics’ so think retro 80s gear with fluro headbands, leotards and tights or your favourite sportswear. To celebrate the athletics theme, there will also be ‘midnight madness’ where organisers encourage people to walk or run 5km around the track at 12am!
At 7.30pm participants will remember those they have lost to cancer with a candle-lit HOPE Ceremony where people are encourage to write a message on a Hope bag light up the oval.
The community is encouraged to head to Barden Park and check out the family friendly event. Dedicated teams are now seeking the support of the Orana community to continue raising funds for Cancer Council NSW in this fight against cancer.
