In my final days as the administrator at Dubbo Regional Council I would like to acknowledge a number of people. Firstly, the communities of Wellington and Dubbo and surrounding villages for their support during the merger process, particularly the business community and former councillors.

I am also very grateful to general manager, Mark Riley, his executive team and all the staff at council for the work done during the merger process and in maintaining services to ratepayers. Dubbo Regional Council is in an extremely strong position to deliver the best for residents across the region. The 10 Dubbo Regional Councillors took their oath/affirmation on Monday and I am certain they will work hard for the community and the continued prosperity of the region.
Rates payment
Don’t forget that you can choose to make payment of your first instalment at any time before November 30 or make regular payments towards your rates and charges via any of the payment options listed on the rate notice.
Ratepayers are reminded that they will need to update council’s automated payee details with new biller codes and reference numbers applicable for payments via BPAY or Australia Post.
Partnership program
The 2018/2019 Destination Partnership Program is now open and Dubbo Regional Council is inviting businesses across the local government area to join the program which promotes the region as a great place for visitors, events and new residents.
By joining the program, businesses will automatically become a partner in destination marketing and be given the option to feature in either the New Residents Guide, Events Guide or Visitors Guide.
Some of the partner benefits include promotion in 200,000 printed visitor’s guides distributed throughout NSW, opportunities to participate in package deals promoted widely through the destination program and designated space in high demand locations such as Visitors Information Centres, Dubbo City Regional Airport, Wellington Caves and Taronga Western Plains Zoo.
Interested businesses need to confirm participation in the 2018/2019 Destination Partnership Program by 5pm, Friday September 29. For more information and to view the Destination Partnership Program Prospectus, visit dubbo.com.au/Invest/destination-partnership-program.
Long weekend fun
If you are looking for something to do this coming long weekend why not head out to Mumbil for the town’s famous Black Wattle Fair. Known for its famous Chuck A Kubra challenge there is also something for everyone at the Fair from billy cart races, mini train rides, market stalls, food, entertainment, competitions and activities for the kids. The fun starts on Sunday October 1 at 8am in Mumbil.
If you’re looking for a place to cool off this weekend don’t forget that the tap has been turned on at Elston Park Water Park. Elston Park is a popular place for families and gets plenty of use during spring, summer and autumn.
The water will be on from Saturday and the system will be open to the public between the hours of 9am to 6pm until Friday, October 27 and then from October 28 to April 29 it will be operational from 8am to 9pm.
To activate the water, users just need to press the signed red sensor pole located within the water park area.
Congratulations to organisers
Well done to everyone who was involved in this year’s Wellington SpringFest. The weekend was a great success with big crowds coming from all around to enjoy the range of activities, events and attractions.
A lot of hard work went into making SpringFest happen and I look forward to seeing this event grow year after year.
