BOWLS
Sixteen bowlers took to the Greens in last Wednesday’s jackpot bowls. Winners on the day were Don Graham & Ron Oxenham who defeated Mo Clare & Dave Stace. Runners-up were John Gersbach & Terry Dray who defeated Charles Robinson & Trevor Elemes.

Other results were Frank Gersbach & Laurie Stanley defeated Daniel Humphries & Jason Robbins, Ian Humphries & Ian Smith defeated Garth Watts & Scott Reid.
The Jackpot was not won and Don Graham won the Raffle. Grade 7 Lucky Number – September 7 – Number 35 Peter McGrath. Jackpot bowls are on again today, names to be in by 1.00pm for 1.30pm start.
Sympathy is extended to Trevor Messenger on the passing of his brother in Adelaide.

BUSINESS HOUSE BOWLS
Time to start arranging teams for this ompetition, first game will Tuesday October 10. There will be eight rounds before the Christmas break. Teams of three to play 12 ends each Tuesday. Ring the Club on 6845 1973 to nominated your team. Cost is $5 per person each night.
FRIDAY NIGHT
Badge Draw $600. Raffles Meat Trays & Vouchers Tickets on sale from 6.00pm. Music by local artists.
LADIES’ BOWLS
Results of last Thursday’s match was a draw. The raffle was won by Rose Davis. The final of Consistency Championship was played on Sunday. It was won by Sue Manning who defeated Regina Last. Social bowls will be played tomorrow at 10am. Please have names in by 9.30am.
CROQUET
Attached a photo of the winner of the first monthly croquet competition during the last month an average of 16 to 20 Ladies have been playing each Monday and recording their score which were added up at game September 25.
GOLF
A look at what has been happening at Wellington Golf Club over the past few weeks and a very busy October coming up for the club and greenkeepers. The club has held their Mixed Foursomes and Par 3 Mens Championships.
The Mixed Foursomes - kindly sponsored by Robert Baker, was played on 10th September being won by Liam Brien and Marie Cornish whilst B-grade was won by Geoff Walker and Wendy Slacksmith. It was great to see many new combinations this year.
Par 3 Mens 27 Hole Championships - kindly sponsored by Wellington Mowers & Chainsaws (Rod & Allison). 43 players participated last Sunday 14th September which was great to see. A-grade was won by Mitchell Cusack 85. B-grade - Luke Milgate 88. C-grade - Tony Cowan 102. Handicap Winners in each division were:- John Gersbach 81, Keiran Baker 77 on a 3 way count back and Russ Frazer 74
Upcoming events:
1. Thursday Summer Twilight "9 hole" competition - commences Thursday October 5 - please see Chica McCarroll or Tony Cowan for details. Ladies - you can play any day from Thursday through to Sunday - please see Wendy Slacksmith for details. Remember in this competition you dont need to be a Club member or have a handicap as one is given to you, however you must play with someone in this Competition or with a Club member and the tee is open all day. Cost will be $40 Competition Fee and Green Fees $11 for Club Members and $15 for non-members.
2. Mens Club Championships being held over 2 full weekends – October 7 & 8 and then October 14 and 15. Players - membership must be fully paid up, if there is a problem please see Barry or Marilyn. A time Sheet will be available for your names at the bar this weekend.
3. Keirle's Pharmacy Summer Teams Competition: Begins October 28. Team nomination sheets will be on the Board from this Saturday to start entering your team so a draw can be done.
LADIES’ GOLF
The ladies have been playing every Wednesday morning from 9.30 in some nice warm days and some very bitter days. This week the travelling Cobram/Barooga group are away, no doubt enjoying cooler weather Also, the Western Districts Golf Finals Day is being held in Warren this week with Min Burge, Kathy Martin and Marie Cornish playing in various events. Today will see an event to be announced when players arrive.
Upcoming Events: October 4 - Ladies Committee AGM after Golf; October 13 - Western Districts Ladies AGM and Foursomes Event; October 25 - Wellington Ladies Open Tournament.
VISITING GROUPS: The club also has a number of groups doing the Stay and Play Packages at the Caves Holiday Complex.
CHRISTMAS PARTY TIME: It is getting to that time of the year where people are thinking Christmas Parties - if you haven’t booked a venue yet, why not consider looking at the golf club? Catering can be covered either privately, yourself or the club ladies and if need you have accommodation within walking distance at the caves. Remember - the club is also available for parties of any kind (Weddings/21st/reunions etc) - why not inquire for these too. Just give the club a call 6845 2130 and Marie will only be too willing to assist you.
