Celebrations kicked off on Friday evening with the opening of the Quota Club of Wellington’s 66th annual art exhibition.
The exhibition was held at the Wellington Soldiers Memorial Club and attracted around 155 quality entries from around the region.
Funds raised from the exhibition will be donated to Guide Dogs of NSW/ACT and the Wellington Eisteddfod.
Cameron Park was transformed into a stall-city on Saturday as festival-goers were entertained by a variety of activities on offer for the whole family.
The Cycle Challenge and Bicentennial street parade proved popular, as did the Snake Man’s show, Neon Show by local dancers and displays in the Old Western Stores.
The festival wrapped up on Sunday with an open day at the Burrendong Botanic Garden and Arboretum.
About 80 people made the trip out to the gardens where they enjoyed live music, good food and stall displays from Landcare, Field Naturalists of Dubbo and craft stalls for the kids.
Chair of the Springfest committee, Emily Falson, said the months of preparation ahead of the event paid off with the weekend exceeding all expectations.
“I think we had about 3000 people, record sales for stall holders and by all means it was a very successful Springfest,” she said.
“I feel it is onward and upwards and I received great feedback from the whole community.”
Emily thanked the many volunteers and community groups who put in time behind the scenes to bring the festival together.
“It was a big community effort – there were so many volunteers behind the scenes, so many networks who got involved to bring it all together,” she said.
“I’m always quite astounded at the depth of generosity this town shows.
“Someone’s always ready to put their hand in their pocket to make things happen.”
