Nanima Preschool hosted the event which drew in a crowd upward of 200 people, including staff, children and families.

Several organisations attended the celebrations. Among them were Marathon Health, Wellington Aboriginal Health Service, NSW Health and Country Rugby League.

Children were kept entertained through a range of activities including face painting, bead threading, sports and arts and craft.

Preschool director, Deanne Towney, said NAIDOC Day is a time to celebrate the indigenous culture while bringing the community together.

“It is a time we can celebrate our indigenous culture and get the families and kids together,” she said

“We celebrate all cultures but this is a day we put aside for our culture, for the whole community to come together.”
