Around 30 Year 12 students who were described as “unique with a special bond” attended the final assembly which was supported by parents, friends and fellow students.
The graduating year was made up of students Samantha Anderson, Oguz Arici, Courtney Boland, Makeylee Brien, Jack Broome, Arlie Clout, Gabrielle Cottrell, Lucy Darney, Matt Dutfield, Gabrielle Flanagan, Madison Hannelly, Sophie Hawke, Matt JP, Tom Kierle, Orion Lane, Zachary Mara, Rachel Melhuish, Ashleigh Parkes, Jacyntah Powell, Grace Redpath, Tamara Sheslow, Luke Simmons, Piper Stubbs, Khristan Tailby, Brandon Towney, Jemma Turner, Jaydn Vernon, Corey Wilkinson and Emma York.
School principal, Rod Cosier, labelled the day as a special milestone based on memories as he addressed the crowd in the school’s hall.
“It is that point in our school lives which has always been craved for but somehow appeared to be forever out of our reach,” he said.
“For you, this day has arrived! I am wondering whether you are feeling as elated as you expected to when you pictured this day in your mind.
“Some of you may well have that great feeling but I’m fairly confident that for a number of you this will be a day that at some point will include tears as you reach the realisation that it really is over.”
Year advisers, Kyle Nonnenmacher and Craig Sheedy, had the audience in fits of laughter as they reflected on standout moments from the last six years.
“This year group is unique in that we share a special bond, we both started our journey’s at Wellington in the year 2012 and during this time I have seen them grow and develop into the half decent people they are today and conversely they have seen me grow and develop into a half decent teacher as well,” Kyle said.
Mr Cosier wished the students well ahead of the HSC and with the next phase of their life.
“When you leave today, you are entering a whole new world that you will be shaping through your choices and as such you will be creating new memories of your own making,” he said.
“The world is your oyster and the directions you select will fill your life with great memories.
“I would like to thank Year 12 for being such an integral part of our school – you will leave a significant hole when you leave.
“I wish you all well and know that you will all achieve the success and happiness that you deserve in your futures.”
