Police are searching for a man involved in a two-vehicle accident which resulted in a man and a four-year-old boy being airlifted to hospital on Monday evening.

Shortly before 5pm on Monday emergency services were called to the Lowrie Drive accident site where they were met with a “distressing scene”.
Inspector Keith Ridley of Dubbo Police Station said the two vehicles – a white Magna sedan and a Nissan Navara single cab ute – collided head-on after navigating a sweeping bend in the road.
“A vehicle was travelling south on Lowrie Drive, and as it was negotiating a sweeping left hand bend it came into contact with a vehicle head-on travelling in the opposite direction causing major damage to the vehicles,” Inspector Ridley said.
Two occupants of the ute – a 31-year-old man and a four-year-old boy – received serious injuries and were airlifted to John Hunter and Westmead Childrens Hospital respectively.
The child had serious injuries to his mouth, and the adult had chest and facial injuries.

A spokesperson for Ambulance NSW confirmed the male driver was in a stable condition, while the child was in a serious condition with head and facial injuries.
Two other children travelling in the ute, boys aged eight and nine, had minor injuries and were conveyed to Wellington Hospital by private transport.
Inspector Ridley said police are currently searching for the 45-year-old male driver of the sedan who left the scene prior to their arrival.

Monday’s accident comes just days after a motorist was conveyed to hospital after a truck and car collided on the Mitchell Highway.
About 6.50pm on Wednesday, September 13, the two vehicles collided about 12km west of Wellington on the Mitchell Highway. The driver of the car was conveyed to hospital with minor injuries.
