Grant Dennis Mackay, 32, of Kokoda Street, was sentenced by magistrate David Day for offences he committed on September 4 and on October 9, 14 and 17 last year.

He has been in custody since October 20, 2016.

He will remain in jail until October 19 and will then serve a two-year good behaviour bond. 

“Mr Mackay you have an appalling record, you do what you want to do, you take other people’s property, however you do pay the penalty,” Mr Day said.

“There’s drug and alcohol matters clearly.”

Mackay was sentenced to nine months’ jail with a five month non-parole period from October 20, 2016 to July 19, for driving a Toyota Landcruiser that was stolen in Narromine between September 2 and 4, 2016.

The vehicle was found written off on the Mitchell Highway, 15 kilometres south of Wellington. 

For using a stolen bank card in Bathurst on October 8 he was sentenced to six months’ jail from March 1 to August 31.

The bank card was stolen during a break and enter at Eungella Place.

Mackay was caught making six transactions at Bathurst service stations totalling about $500.

Mackay was sentenced to seven months’ jail with a three month non-parole period period from April 1 to June 30, 2017, after his fingerprints were found in a car that was stolen from a garage in McLachlan Street on the night of October 14.

The car was found on October 16, and he was charged with travelling in a stolen car.

For going on a $465 spending spree in Orange on October 17, with a bank card that was stolen from a house in Lister Drive on October 16, he was sentenced to seven months’ jail with a three month non-parole period from July 20, 2017 to October 19, 2017.

He was also given a two-year good behaviour bond for using the credit card to buy a $10 phone card.
