Being the first Merino ram sale of spring, the Coddingtons passed the litmus test with flying colours as old clients and a few new buyers from five states took home new stud and commercial flock sires.
The first 29 rams which were March shorn and autumn and spring drops sold for an average of $3724.
Studmaster, Graham Coddington, said the rams catalogued represented the best in quality he had produced and was very pleased with the sale result, only slightly down on last year.
“Unfortunately, there were regular buyers who could not purchase this year due to drought conditions they were experiencing,” he said.
Returning for his third buying spree, Duncan Clowes, Valdemar stud, Millthorpe, paid the $9500 top money for the first lot offered, an 18.1 micron March shorn sired by 160-72 weighing 96 kilograms.
