What is the magic in education? Is it having the right teacher? Is it having the right class composition? Is it private schooling? Is it public schooling? Is it tuition via a traditional learning style? Is it tuition via a contemporary learning style? Each of these questions is worth considering and holds validity.
However, over the many years that I have been teaching, my experience says that the magic in education, should there be such a thing, is when both school and home work together in partnership. No-one knows your child like you do. Educators know education and the ever-developing craft of teaching and learning but without your knowledge of your child, how to implement that knowledge best for each student, is not maximised. There is great power in the combined knowledge and heart of home and school having synergy. Our environment is one where your family becomes part of our family - we walk together.

In addition, a close second in terms of ‘the magic’, we believe, is education around character as well as academic pursuit. Developing one’s academic ability is incredibly important, but just as significant is the development of one’s character. Because it is true to say that our abilities and skills are directly impacted, adversely or positively, by the foundation of character they ultimately rest on.
It really does take a village to raise (and educate) a child and, as a school, we are pleased to partner with the families of Wellington towards that.
