Last Thursday 3600 prime cattle penned in a much better quality yarding with well finished yearlings and heavy steers, most of which had been finished on grain. Trade heavyweight yearlings rose a little, but most trade cattle fell 12 to 15 cents. Feeder steers lost 5-8c with feeder heifers down 20c. Re-stocker steers improved topping at 337c. Heavy steers were up by 5c, heavy heifers reached 267, plainer cows were 13c dearer, and the heavy kind rose only 2c. Quotations calves 344-523, steer vealers 258-337, heifer vealers 230-323, steer yearlings 240-319, heifer yearlings 220-293, heavy steers 250-309, bullocks 268-306, heavy heifers 180-267, light cows 164-187, medium cows 150-227, heavy cows 200-242, and bulls 78-264.
On Friday at CTLX Carcoar 1368 store cattle penned in a lesser quality yarding with numbers down. Weaners were well supplied with only a few yearlings. PTIC heifers and cows had reasonable numbers. Weaner steers were firm to $25 cheaper from $580-$1120 with most averaging 310-346c a kilo. Weaner heifers were dearer for better blood lines ranging from $300-$955 or 290-330c/kg. Yearling steers traded at $840-$1150 or 260-311c/kg. A pen of yearling heifers made $815, PTIC heifers were $910-$1100. PTIC cows sold for $800-$1400, cows and calves ranged from $800-$2250 for a pen of Angus.
At Dubbo on Monday, 32,450 lambs penned in a lower quality yarding with a lower number of extra heavyweight lambs, although a mainly good selection of trade Merino lambs and Dorpers were supplied as were lightweight stores. Processor light lambs finished around firm, trade lambs fell $12-$17, and heavy lambs lost $8-$15 with most export lambs losing $22. Trade weight Merino lambs were $5-$8 easier at $102-$137, the heavier end was down up to $20 topping at $149. Hoggets reached $130. Quotations: light young lamb $60-$106, medium young $106-$118, heavy young $123-$138, supermarket young $130-$145, light $41-$106, medium $98-$121, heavy $106-$138, supermarket $120-$162, and export $153-$195. 10,300 Mutton penned in a mixed quality yarding with most grades rising $3-$5, an outstanding line of over 400 Merino wethers made $176.50. Quotations: light ewes $65-$86, medium $66-$118, heavy $100-$156, light wethers $49-$78, medium wethers $93-$128, heavy wethers $115-$176.50, rams $20-$90, ram lambs $92-$114.
